Terms
How I work with a client.
This is the plain version of what goes into every proposal. The proposal itself is the document that governs the work — these are the standing terms behind it.
Price and payment
- Every build is quoted at a fixed price, in writing, before any work starts.
- Half is due before work starts and the balance on delivery. No exceptions.
- Any applicable harmonized sales tax is shown separately on the invoice and is not part of my fee.
- Work outside the written scope is quoted separately, and nothing starts until you approve it.
- The lowest build price is CA$1,500. Below that I will refer you elsewhere or sell a smaller piece of work.
What you own
- The code, the data and the accounts are yours. Everything is built in your name.
- It is documented, so any other developer can take it over.
- You can revoke my access the day the work is done.
Your information
- Nothing you give me is used to train a model.
- I will sign your confidentiality agreement before you show me anything confidential.
- Where work touches personal or health information, we agree the handling in writing first — including where it is hosted — and I do not start until that is signed.
What I do not promise
- I do not guarantee a business result, a revenue figure, or a search ranking.
- I do not charge for time, so a build that takes longer than I expected is my problem, not yours.
- Third-party services — hosting, model interfaces, payment providers — are outside my control and are billed by them under their terms.
If something goes wrong
Tell me first. If a deliverable does not do what the proposal said it would, I fix it at no charge. If we cannot agree, we settle it under the law of Ontario, in the courts of Ontario.
These terms are not final
These are the working terms of a one-person studio, written plainly rather than by a lawyer. Before relying on them for a large engagement, ask me for a signed agreement and I will have the wording reviewed. Contact: georgefielder@gmail.com.
